Midjourney has announced the release of Version 6.1 of their acclaimed image models. The new release brings a host of improvements and features that promise to enhance user experience and image quality significantly.
Key enhancements in Midjourney v6.1
The latest version, Midjourney v6.1, introduces several advancements designed to produce more coherent and visually appealing images. Here are some of the standout features:
- Improved image coherence: The new model offers more coherent images with enhanced representations of arms, legs, hands, bodies, plants, and animals.
- Superior image quality: Users will notice a marked reduction in pixel artifacts and enhanced textures, particularly in skin tones and 8-bit retro styles.
- Enhanced detail: Small image features, such as eyes, small faces, and distant hands, are now rendered with greater precision and accuracy.
- Advanced upscalers: New upscalers have been introduced, providing much better image and texture quality.
- Increased speed: Standard image jobs are now roughly 25% faster.
- Improved text accuracy: Text drawn within images using “quotations” in prompts is now more accurate.
- New personalization model: The updated model brings improved nuance, surprise, and accuracy, making personalized images more lifelike and engaging.
- Personalization code versioning: Users can now utilize any personalization code from previous jobs to apply the personalization model and data from those jobs.
- New –q 2 mode: This mode, which takes 25% longer to render, adds more texture at the cost of reduced image coherence.
While V6.1 offers many new features, it currently lacks a new inpainting/outpainting model. For tasks involving zoom, reframe, repaint, or vary region, the model will revert to the V6.0 settings. Users wishing to switch back to the previous version can easily do so via the settings panel or by typing –v 6 after their job.
