IBM announced that it would be expanding its IBM MobileFirst portfolio with new and enhanced services. MobileFirst will now include services that are focused on mobile strategy, security, application development and device procurement and management. IBM’s vision for MobileFirst began with the ambition to help organisations capture new markets by providing a suite that combines big data and analytics with cloud and “social technologies.”

The news of IBM’s new MobileFirst services comes after a recent study conducted by IBM’s own researches. IBM estimates that 90 percent of global organizations, across 8 different industries, will either sustain or increase their investments in mobile technology within 12-18 months.

Rich Esposito, GM of IBM Mobility Services, commented on the news.

“The expansion of our mobility services portfolio demonstrates our continued investments in building the full breadth of capabilities clients need to radically transform and grow their business through mobile. In 2014, we will further leverage our software acquisitions and growing capabilities in the cloud to provide clients with more flexibility and choices, including ‘mobility as-a-service’ solutions.”
